RIVERKEEPER Catches Polluters!
The Animas River keeper is on the river and we are catching polluters both large and small.
Septic Dump
During a float down the Animas between Aztec and Farmington Animas RIVERKEEPER found this pipe, draining a septic tank into the Animas River. The smell was horrible and it was a very clear violation. Riverkeeper reported the incident to the appropriate authorities and the owner of the septic tank was forced to clean up the system.
Wetlands Destruction
While conducting a survey of inflows on the Animas the RIVERKEEPER found this section of wetlands that was being destroyed. The incident was reported to the appropriate people and we are currently making sure that the appropriate actions and mitigations take place.
