What Can YOU Do To Help Get Rid of Russian Olive

1) Prevention of establishment: It is illegal to sell Russian Olive in Colorado, however, it was not long ago that it was legal.  If a Russian Olive exists on your property replace it with a native species.  If there is a tree on your friends property see if you can convince them to do the same.

2) Education: Educate friends, family, colleagues, and homeowners associations about Russian Olive and the threat that it poses.  Convince them to remove any Russian Olive trees that may be located on their property.

3) Contact/ Support Friends of the Animas River:  Friends of the Animas River has been working to remove Russian Olive from the Animas Ecosystem since 2000.  We have lots of experience with removal of this species.  We can provide you with necessary information and contacts concerning the removal. e-mail us with questions.
